The Pier’s design was concepted through years of design team and community involvement to ensure it would meet the needs of St. Petersburg’s growing and evolving community. The St. Pete Pier District has been designed to be as rich in use in twenty years, fifty years and beyond, as it is today.
As a result, the Pier has been awarded dozens of prestigious awards from numerous regional, national and international organizations. Most notably, the Urban Land Institute recognized the Pier with the 2022 ULI Global Awards for Excellence, a top honor recognizing the best new urban designs. The St. Pete Pier was one of two designs in the U.S. to be awarded and one of only six in the world. Also in 2022, the Pier Approach received the International Architecture Award for Excellence, from the first and oldest global design awards program.
